![]() The Function Bikes Series A downhill race frame prototype is headed for its race debut at Sea Otter in Monterey, CA April 17-20. The prototype bike has been upgraded with a Fox 40 RC2 front fork and will be piloted by Function Bikes President Aaron Bland and amateur downhill racer Reed Doerr in the Expert and Semi-Pro classes of the SRAM Downhill race on Sunday. The event will provide the perfect opportunity for the company to evaluate the merits of its chromoly frame and high pivot rear suspension design. Function Bikes president Aaron Bland had this to say about the upcoming event: "Sea Otter is H-U-G-E! It's an awesome event with an awesome atmosphere! I've only raced the cross country event there before, so the downhill will be a brand new experience on a brand new bike. We're treating the event as a test session for the Series A and hoping to come away with good feedback and big smiles!" The team had hoped to be showing off their '08 Fox 40 Race Crown Kit on the bike as well, but sadly were not able to receive the final production parts in time for the race. The bright yellow bike will be hard to miss, so be sure to cheer on our riders and say hello if you see them at the event!
